Understanding Skin Laxity (Sagging Skin)
Skin laxity is characterized by a loss of tone and firmness, caused by the depletion or weakening of the skin’s foundational tissues—namely collagen and elastin. While there are multiple contributing factors, aging is the primary cause. Other common triggers include drastic or frequent weight fluctuations, pregnancy, protein-deficient diets, a sedentary lifestyle, and excessive sun exposure. This loss of firmness typically affects facial contours (such as the jawline, double chin, and eyelids), as well as the inner arms, inner thighs, abdomen, and buttocks.
