DESCRIPTION
Skin Brightening Treatment & Anti-Dark Spot Peel
Derma Whitening addresses skin hyperpigmentation, which is caused by an increase in the production and distribution of melanin. This pigment is processed by specialized cells known as melanocytes (or melanophores). Depending on its concentration, melanin determines the specific tone of the skin and hair.
To effectively eliminate these imperfections, we recommend a professional chemical peel specifically formulated for depigmentation, such as the Derma Whitening Anti-Dark Spot Peel. For optimal results, this should be followed by a consistent home maintenance routine using Derma Whitening Cream. These products are available together in a comprehensive Complete Depigmenting Dark Spot Treatment pack.
Composition & Active Ingredients
Glycolic Acid: An Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) with keratolytic properties derived from fermented sugar cane. Its small molecular size allows for deep penetration, providing hydrating and regenerating effects. It stimulates cellular turnover and offers controlled resurfacing to activate fibroblasts.
Citric Acid: Primarily found in citrus fruits, this acid regulates skin pH and sebum production while providing potent antioxidant benefits.
Arbutin: A beta-glucoside extracted from the Ericaceae plant family (such as Calluna vulgaris). It regulates melanogenesis and accelerates the decomposition of existing melanin.
Salicylic Acid: A Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA) derived from the enzymatic hydrolysis of salicin (from willow bark). This colorless, crystalline organic acid acts as a keratolytic agent by breaking down the keratin in corneodesmosomes. This weakens lipid bonds to promote exfoliation, while also providing antibacterial and soothing properties.
Lactobionic Acid: A Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) composed of gluconic acid and galactose. It acts as a powerful brightening, smoothing, and moisturizing antioxidant. It inhibits metalloproteases triggered by UV exposure, counteracting photo-damage while promoting cellular turnover and skin lightening.
4-Butylresorcinol: A highly effective and safe lightening agent. It is a strong inhibitor of tyrosinase and peroxidase/$H_2O_2$, making it a premier depigmenting agent for both normal and hyperpigmented skin, including melasma. It has shown superior efficacy compared to many market extracts and traditional ingredients like hydroquinone or kojic acid (which are often restricted due to toxicity). 4-Butylresorcinol is safe, offering DNA protection against $H_2O_2$-induced damage and providing an anti-glycation effect to improve overall skin appearance.
Kojic Acid: Frequently used to treat various types of hyperpigmentation—such as melasma, chloasma, and solar or senile lentigo—by inhibiting melanin synthesis. It specifically targets the tyrosinase enzyme, preventing the transformation of tyrosine into melanin intermediates.
Tranexamic Acid: A synthetic derivative of the essential amino acid lysine. It provides an anti-plasmin effect that curbs the overproduction of melanin when applied topically.
Niacinamide: A potent antioxidant that offers a protective, soothing, and anti-inflammatory action on the skin barrier.
