Spicules: The Revolution in Advanced Aesthetics
If you are a beauty professional, you’ve probably already heard of spicules. This innovative ingredient is gaining popularity in the beauty world thanks to its unique properties and the visible results it delivers. Let’s take a look at what spicules are, how they work, and why they should be used in advanced aesthetic treatments.
What Are Spicules?
Spicules are microscopic structures derived from marine organisms, such as sponges. These tiny elements have a pointed shape and can penetrate the skin in a gentle, controlled manner. Their primary function is to stimulate cellular regeneration and enhance the absorption of active ingredients contained in cosmetic products.
Spicule Origins
Originally used in traditional Asian medicine, spicules have also found application in dermocosmetics. Their origins date back to ancient beauty practices, where they were used to improve skin texture. Today, thanks to modern technology, we can enjoy their benefits through advanced formulations.
How Spicules Work?
Spicules represent an innovative and non-invasive method in skincare, and their action is based on a fascinating mechanism. In practice, they work by creating tiny channels on the skin surface through massage, without using any equipment. This stimulation technique delivers a series of significant benefits for the skin.
The primary and most important effect of using spicules is boosting the natural production of collagen and elastin. These two proteins are essential for keeping the skin firm, elastic, and youthful looking. Over time, collagen and elastin production tends to decline, leading to the appearance of signs of aging such as wrinkles and loss of elasticity. The action of spicules helps counteract these effects by promoting cellular regeneration.
Furthermore, an additional benefit offered by spicules is enhancing the skin’s ability to absorb the active ingredients contained in the products used during the treatment. In fact, the micro-channels created by the procedure allow for deeper and more effective penetration of the active ingredients found in derma 2.0 Cocktails or Monoactives mixed with neutral spicule-based serums.
Why Choose It for Your Treatments
- Increased Collagen and Elastin: Stimulates the skin’s natural processes, combating signs of aging, wrinkles, and loss of firmness.
- Enhanced Active Delivery: The micro-channels created allow for deep and effective absorption of the blended Derma 2.0 Cocktails and Monoactives.
- Non-Invasive Technology: A regenerative effect achieved exclusively through manual massage techniques.
- Maximum Skin Tolerance: Ideal for all skin types, even the most sensitive, thanks to its neutral and customizable formula.
How to Use Neutral Spicule Serums by Derma 2.0
- Cleansing: Cleanse using the specific mousse selected based on the skin type being treated;
- Mixing: Mix the spicule-based product with the cocktail most suitable for the primary skin concern being treated (For face treatment: 6 pumps of serum with 2 ml of cocktail; For face, neck, and décolleté: 12 pumps with 4 ml of cocktail; For eye contour treatment: 2 pumps with 0.3 ml of cocktail);
- Massage: Massage the resulting mixture onto the face, neck, décolleté, or eye contour area until fully absorbed using the designated massage technique;
- N.B.: During the massage, a slight tingling and warming sensation may be felt (completely normal and tolerable), indicating that the spicules are activating;
- Leave-on Time: Leave on for approximately 5 minutes;
- Mask Application: Apply the Derma-Regen soothing mask (a walnut-sized amount) mixed with 2–3 drops of Derma-Sun SPF50+ sunscreen, preferably using a fan brush, and allow to dry;
- Rinsing: Do not rinse the treated area for at least 8–10 hours.
- Frequency & Home Care: For optimal results, it is recommended to perform the Derma Spicola treatment 1 to 2 times a week and advise the client on the following home care products:
