Pyruvic Acid Chemical Peel: Derma-Purifying Treatment for Acne

Acne is one of the most common dermatological conditions. Composition of Derma-Purifying Peel

• Pyruvic Acid: An alpha-keto acid naturally found in apples and fermented fruit. It provides an acantholytic action, decreasing cohesion between corneocytes and thinning the stratum corneum. Due to its high lipophilic properties, it emulsifies perfectly with skin oils. This allows it to penetrate deeply into the follicles, exerting bacteriostatic, keratolytic, and comedolytic effects that facilitate the removal of keratin plugs. As a sebostatic agent, it reduces oiliness, making it ideal for hyperseborrhea. At the dermal level, it stimulates the production of new collagen, glycoproteins, and elastic fibers.
• Salicylic Acid: A beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) derived from willow bark (Salix alba). With potent keratolytic properties, it breaks down the keratin of corneodesmosomes, weakening lipid bonds to promote exfoliation. It also provides essential antibacterial and soothing benefits.
• Lactic Acid: An alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from milk fermentation. With a larger molecular size than glycolic acid, it penetrates less deeply, making it a gentler option. It stimulates the production of ceramides—essential lipids for skin barrier integrity—and features hygroscopic properties to draw moisture into the skin. It also acts as a pH balancer and keratolytic agent.
• Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate: A natural derivative of azelaic acid known for its depigmenting, bacteriostatic, and comedolytic properties. It is an effective anti-radical agent that helps clear the skin.
• Mandelic Acid: A widely used AHA valued for its antibacterial properties and its ability to significantly reduce the proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes.
• Citric Acid: A weak tricarboxylic acid that regulates the skin’s pH levels while promoting epithelial cell renewal and exfoliation.
• Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide): Provides antimicrobial activity that helps counteract the bacterial proliferation responsible for the development of skin imperfections.
